Sophie Hojnacki

Instructor

Sophie grew up near the shores of Lake Michigan, camping with her family and growing a connection with nature. Completion of an Outward Bound course motivated her to move to the mountains to pursue her outdoor recreation passions and continue working with kids through environmental education.

She earned a bachelor's degree in Human Development and Sustainability Science and from Montana State University. She has taught avalanche education, wilderness medicine, whitewater rafting, and backpacking courses through the MSU Outdoor Recreation Program. Sophie's has also served as instructor for Teton Science School, Alpengirl Adventures, Camp Newaygo, and Big Sky Youth Empowerment.

She has experienced the power of place-based education firsthand and is dedicated to creating an impactful experience for every child this summer! Outside of MOSS, Sophie enjoys exploring the mountains and rivers in many forms, connecting with friends, and drinking lots of coffee!
