MOSS Preschool Nature Walks

Discover the wonder and magic of nature with your young adventurer along the trails of Gallatin Valley. MOSS instructors will guide you along themed walks paced for pre-school aged minds and legs.

  • Mondays | 9:30– 10:30am*

  • Preschool kids and parents

  • Suggested donation: $5/person

  • Bring a water bottle, snacks, and be prepared for the weather. A change of clothing is always a good idea!

  • No registration is required

  • Locations vary - see schedule*

    *Meet MOSS instructors at the scheduled trailhead just before 9:30am.

Monday, September 11 – Wild Wetlands

Meet at Indreland Audubon Wetland Preserve (near 120 Village Crossing Way)*

What are wetlands and what can we find there? Explore the Indreland Audubon Wetland Preserve and meet a MOSS Ambassador animal!

*Please park along Village Downtown Blvd. before you reach the roundabout with the moose sculpture (do not park in Resident Only Parking on the side streets) and walk south on Village Crossing Way to the end of the cul-de-sac. Look for MOSS and IAWP folks to help direct you!

Monday, September 18 - Fall Equinox

Meet at Tuckerman Park (7979 Goldenstein Ln, Bozeman, MT 59715)

Summer officially turns to Fall on September 23 - but what does that mean? We will explore what shifting seasons look like.

Monday, October 2 - Sights and Sounds of the Prairie 

Meet at Northern Pacific Park (800 N Ida Ave, Bozeman, MT 59715) and walk to Tinworks Art 

We will explore indoors at the Invisible Prairies: Sensing and Sounding the Plains exhibit (open just for our group!) and prairie animals outside in the park nearby.

Monday, September 25 – Bridger Bowl Raptor Watch

Meet at Bridger Bowl Upper Parking Area

This special Preschool Nature Walk is a collaboration with Roots Family Collaborative Fresh Air Families.
The Bridger Ridge is so unique to our area. It has the largest known concentration of migratory Golden Eagles in the U.S with a long-term average annual count of 1,200 to 1,500 birds. It also attracts many other migrating raptors, with 18 species recorded. Overall, combined-species counts typically range between 2,000 and 3,500 migrants per fall season.
