Mary Horner-Richardson

Education Coordinator

Mary grew up in rural New Hampshire and urban Malaysia where she spent her weekends exploring in the White Mountains, the Cameron highlands, and the creek behind her parents house. As a self-proclaimed frog kid, Mary knew her career would include being outside and learning about the world around her. Mary attended Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan, where she double majored in biology and biochemistry and discovered a love for teaching through her work as a TA. After college, she worked as a researcher, a park ranger, an industrial chemist, and a backcountry caretaker before circling back to environmental education. She is an alum of the Teton Science Schools Graduate Program in Jackson, Wyoming, where she honed her skills in place-based learning, field education, and playing outside professionally. She loves getting others excited about the natural world and is passionate about making outdoor activities accessible to all. In her free time, Mary enjoys long-distance backpacking, trail running, listening to and playing music, exploring swimming holes, climbing, reading non-fiction, and snuggling with her needy kitten Hammy.
