From crystals to avalanches this class will explore all things related to that fluffy, cold white stuff! We’ll try snowshoeing, learn about winter animal adaptations and how a powder day can lead to floods or drought. Come dressed to be outside in the snow most of the day!

Baby Animals
Spring is a time for beginnings. In this class we will learn about animal life cycles and why so many baby animals are born in the springtime. We’ll visit a farm to meet some little ones and learn about how wild animals’ adaptations maximize baby’s chances of survival throughout the coming year.

Diamond in the Rough
What is a gem and why are some gemstones and precious metals worth so much? How do these natural beauties form and how do they become jewelry? In this class we’ll explore nature’s treasures!
April 26
Green Thumb
As green shoots start to emerge and flowers begin to bloom, let's dive into the captivating life cycle of plants. We'll get our hands dirty as we plant our very own seeds at the enchanting Gallatin Conservation District garden.
May 3
Underground Playground
Let's uncover the mysteries of soil! Ever wonder about the difference between dirt and soil? In this class, we will uncover secrets hidden underground and learn how soil health influences the food we grow.
Gear List
Please bring a backpack with the following every day:
2 full water bottles, at least 1 liter each (we’ll have access to fill water too)
rain coat
sun hat and/or sunglasses (if necessary)
extra pair of socks
healthy sack lunch (soft-sided lunch boxes are best to fit into backpacks while hiking)
2 healthy snacks
extra clothing (always pack a warm layer)
closed-toe shoes
small container of sunscreen and bug spray (if necessary)
small hand sanitizer
Snow gear (if necessary: boots, two pairs of gloves, jacket, pants)
The weather in Montana can be inclement and unpredictable. Please ensure your child has everything necessary to play and learn outside.
Please DO NOT send your child to MOSS Programs with a smartwatch or any electronic device. We have found electronics cause distractions to not only one child but the children around them as well.
**Your child will not have to carry their backpack throughout the day. Therefore, it’s okay if their pack is heavy.
**MOSS is committed to making programming accessible to everyone. If your family needs support providing the necessary gear, let us know. We have extras and are happy to share.
Don't forget to double-check backpack contents before leaving home each morning!
