Christy Howard

Office Coordinator

Christy has always been a bit of a nature nerd. Her first scrapbook/nature journal consisted of pictures of her favorite animals cut delicately from her Ranger Rick magazines. It only delightfully spiraled from there. She gained a deep appreciation of nature while traveling to National and State Parks with her dad and little brother through much of her childhood.

She has lived in several different states including Colorado, New Jersey, and South Dakota to name a few. However, Montana has always been home. Her parents grew up in the Gallatin Valley, students of the Little Bear School House in Gallatin Gateway. Graduating with a degree in Linguistics, she has worked for Montana State University and Bandai Namco Entertainment.

Christy discovered MOSS through the Master Naturalist program and has been a champion for MOSS ever since. In 2023 she formed the Gallatin Nature Society to gather other nature lovers together for nature saunters, nature journaling, crafts, nature board game nights, lectures, a book club, and so much more. Her goal is to bring the same wild wonder we have as children to kids of all ages. Christy believes that spending time outdoors and learning about the natural world around you is vital to your well-being no matter what your age. In her free time, Christy is an avid bibliophile, photographer, and all around geek. She lives in Bozeman with her husband, Eben, and their adventure cat, Tali’Zorah.

Email Christy if you see any lichens as she would be happy to identify and discuss them at length: choward@outdoorscience.org
