Volunteer

We are located on the beautiful grounds of the Bozeman Fish Technology Center at 4056 Bridger Canyon Road across from the "M" Hiking Trail in Bozeman.  The center is visited by thousands of people each year. 

Join Friends of the Fish Technology Center for a whole host of volunteer opportunities. 

The goal of the Friends of the Fish Technology Center is to create opportunities for community use of land, trails and outdoor facilities for educational and recreational uses such as hiking, birding, painting, fish-viewing, and sight-seeing.  And also maintaining land and property in a healthy and appealing condition for these uses.

Key Volunteer Responsibilities

  • Provide information and a greeting to all visitors arriving at the BFTC campus.
  • Guide visitors and student groups on an informational and historic tour of the BFTC grounds. (These will occur bi-weekly from June through October) 
  • Help care for exhibits on the grounds
  • Assist with evening and weekend programs, and help with special events. 
    • Watershed Festival
    • Barn Dance
    • Raptorfest
    • Christmas Stroll
    • Music on Main
    • Sweet Pea Parade
    • Other events and festivals
    • Fishing Derby
  • Assist staff in preparation and presentation of natural science programs from children through seniors on and off-site. 
  • Be involved in designing informational displays, writing articles, and performing routine maintenance on trails and interpretive facilities.
  • Assist Montana Outdoor Science School and the BFTC with administrative tasks.
