The Montana Outdoor Science School is sad to announce the departure of Executive Director Hans Figi.
MOSS President Paul Spitler said “We will miss Hans greatly. Over the past two years, he has done an incredible job leading MOSS. Under Hans’ leadership, we have seen two years of strong financial and programmatic growth, hired an excellent staff, and increased MOSS’s engagement with the community.” He continued, “He is leaving MOSS tremendously well-positioned to advance our mission of providing quality, hands-on outdoor science experiences to more and more children in southwestern Montana.”
Over the past two years, MOSS revenues have increased 58%, and summer camp scholarships have increased 50%. We have doubled the number of schools served by our science programs, and have launched several new creative programs like Drawing From Nature, Nature Photography, and Music in Nature.
Hans is leaving on great terms with the organization and will continue to serve until a replacement is hired.
Besides its admired summer programs, MOSS offers a selection of 42 hands-on, outdoor, experiential programs to schools, PIR days and Field Days, and community events collaborating with organizations like GVLT and REI. MOSS helps reduce the cost of its programs to schools through grants and donations.
2017 Summer Camps a huge success!
2017 saw more registrations for our summer camps than ever! To accommodate some of this outpouring of demand we will add several new sections for 2018. Even with these additions we may unfortunately be unable to accommodate everyone.
