Avalanche 1 Course $250.00
January 20 - 22, 2012, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day, Class size limited to 12.
This course follows the recommended 24 hour curriculum as stated by the American Avalanche Association. The course covers terrain, weather, snowpack and human factors, all of which contribute to avalanche hazard. During the field sessions students will identify avalanche terrain, practice route finding, dig snow pits, identify weak layers, make stability evaluations and practice avalanche rescue.
Each participant should have their own rescue and backcountry gear including all of the following: avalanche transceiver, probe, shovel, proper clothing, food, skiis with skins, a split board with skins or snowshoes and familiarity with their use are required.

Indoor Sessions take place at the Fish Tech Center (across from the "M" trailhead), and field sessions take place in Bear Canyon and the Moonlight Basin backcountry. A more detailed schedule and curriculum will be sent to you two week prior to the course date you are registered.

Need to Cancel?
We hope not! But just in case, here's our policy:
Cancelations made 30 days prior to the program start date will be refunded in full less a $25 administration fee. Cancelations made less than 30 days prior to the program start date will be subject to rentention of the entire camp fee. No refunds will be issued for "no shows," withdrawals or illnesses.
Under special circumstances, MOSS reserves the right to deny enrollment to a student. We always do our best to adhere to the schedule; however, in the case that MOSS needs to cancel a program, full refunds will be issued.
